Win An Afternoon With Newton Faulkner

Friday, November 23, 2012

The Intellectual Property Office in partnership with UK Music has launched a brand new music competition for 14 to 18 year olds to win an afternoon with Peermusic singer-songwriter, Newton Faulkner.

The aim of MusicBiz is to raise awareness of music downloading, filesharing and the value of creative copyright. Contestants need to create a storyboard or short film of 90 seconds or less focussing on how songwriters, artists and bands are rewarded for their creativity, integrating the words 'Copyright', 'Royalty', 'Design', 'Performers' and 'Original'.

Highlighting creative people's passion for what they do, Newton said:

"We love it and it's what we do. I think we would do it whether we got paid or not but I believe whether you are making music, film or making something - it should be a job and there must be the possibility of a career."

The closing date for entries is 19th April 2013.

Newton prepared a video especially for this competition. You can watch it here:
