Ralph Peer, II Honoured with the Inaugural ICMP Award

Friday, June 07, 2013

The International Confederation of Music Publishers (ICMP) presented Ralph Peer, II, Chair and CEO of peermusic, with the inaugural ICMP Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music Publishing. Andrew Jenkins, chair of ICMP, presented the award at a surprise dinner at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC. The ceremony was attended by music publishers, collection societies and senior industry executives from over 20 countries around the world.

The award is presented to an individual who has made a sustained and outstanding contribution to global music publishing. The award recognizes visionaries in the field of music publishing, whose vital role has helped develop, protect and value the music of composers and authors around the world.

In accepting the award, Ralph Peer thanked ICMP for their service to the creative community around the world and said, "I have always felt that Copyright and Authors Rights are an ongoing expression of how society values the work creators do. To see those concepts diluted in so many territories today makes our endeavour as music publishers all the more important. I am deeply appreciative that we can undertake this work together as a single international community."
