The International Confederation of Music
Publishers (ICMP) presented Ralph Peer, II, Chair and CEO of
peermusic, with the inaugural ICMP Award for Outstanding
Contribution to Music Publishing. Andrew Jenkins, chair of ICMP,
presented the award at a surprise dinner at the Mayflower Hotel in
Washington, DC. The ceremony was attended by music publishers,
collection societies and senior industry executives from over 20
countries around the world.
The award is presented to an individual who
has made a sustained and outstanding contribution to global music
publishing. The award recognizes visionaries in the field of music
publishing, whose vital role has helped develop, protect and value
the music of composers and authors around the world.
In accepting the award, Ralph Peer thanked ICMP
for their service to the creative community around the world and
said, "I have always felt that Copyright and Authors Rights are an
ongoing expression of how society values the work creators do. To
see those concepts diluted in so many territories today makes our
endeavour as music publishers all the more important. I am deeply
appreciative that we can undertake this work together as a single
